This course addresses public bodies’ managers, policy makers, investors, developers to enhance their capacity in delivering, implementing and monitoring efficient measures, plans and strategies to improve the sustainability of cities, neighbourhoods and buildings and the promotion of participatory processes.
Course content
The course for decision-makers consists of three training modules:
This module presents the basic concept of sustainability in urban areas and assessment systems for the built environment. The 3 sets of SMC indicators (at building, neighborhood and city scale) are illustrated together with the contextualization process.
This module presents in detail how to implement the 7 steps composing the decision-making process:Initiation – Preparation – Diagnosis – Strategic Definition – Retrofit Scenarios – Decision Making – Retrofit concept
This module presents the pilot case studies developed by the 3 partner cities located in Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia to test the SMC outcomes on local neighborhoods and buildings.The module focuses both decision-making process and use of SMC tools.
Course methodology
It is a “self-learning” course: no timetables and calendars are fixed, you can learn at your own pace, with the maximum time flexibility. The course is completely for free.
